Have you ever wanted more out of life? Well, I did. Day after day I would sit at my desk at work and I would feel unfulfilled. I knew my life needed to change. I was going through the motions and complaining about it.
What would I do? Go back to school? What would I study? How much would that cost? How much time would I have to actually devote to my studies, as I am a married woman with four kids and a full time job? Honestly, going back to school didn't excite me.
I want a new job, but do I really want to start over? I already have time invested here. Vacation, sick and holiday pay lined up. Do I want to give that up, and for what? I didn't want just another job, I wanted a career!
How does that saying go? If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life? Something like that.
My father had become ill and one day in March, my mother called me and told me that it was time to come home to South Carolina and say goodbye. I immediately hopped on a flight, left Las Vegas and was on my way home! While I was there, my mom, brother and I sat in the living room discussing what we were going to do once dad passed. My father was a fun-loving guy and wasn't a big fan of funerals. Let's face it, who is? We decided instead of a traditional funeral, we would celebrate his life.
I pulled out my phone and started searching for homes. We would have a family reunion. We would rent a house on his favorite lake, Lake Keowee, and we would spend the week doing all the stuff dad loved to do. August rolled around, and there we were, 21 people in a beautiful house on the lake, laughing, crying, fishing, singing, dancing, and just having a wonderful time drinking in the love we all have for dad and each other.
As soon as we returned we were all chatting (don't you love group chat rooms?) about how much we all missed each other already and how we wished we could all be together again. That's when the idea to do an annual family vacation/reunion came to mind. I was on it! I took that idea and hit the ground running, HARD! For the next several hours, I was on my phone researching different destinations, rental properties, hotels etc, (mind you, I was at my job at the time. You won't tell anyone, will you?).
That is when it hit me, my ah ha moment. I found so much joy researching trips and finding deals. I love traveling! I mean, who doesn't, am I right? I enjoy helping people and finding the best deals.
I found my passion! My passion is travel! I desire to take my children all over the world. I love to see their faces light up as they experience new cultures. As we embark on more adventures together, I know that their love for travel will continue to grow.
Here's to new adventures!
