In August 2014, my children learned the definition of all inclusive. Granted, this was my daughter's second trip to Jamaica, but the boys had never been to an all inclusive resort until then.
At the time, by children were 12, 7, 6 and 5. We had taken a family vacation to Montego Bay, Jamaica and stayed at Sunscape Splash Montego Bay, formerly Sunset Beach. In the 6 nights we stayed at this beautiful property my kids became #SPOILED, lol.
They absolutely loved that they could pretty much do what they wanted (within reason). My husband and I loosened the reigns on them, and they dove right in! They enjoyed going up to the bar and ordering virgin iced drinks, unlimited ice cream and cheesy fries from the snack shack, and bouncing back and forth between the beach and the pool.
The main dining room was open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the kids loved being able to decide what they wanted to eat, instead of eating what I prepared for them lol. They got to call the shots. You want an omelette, get it! You want a plate of bacon, go for it! Yes, we let our oldest son get a plate of bacon. My husband and I ate off of it, but he felt like the king of the castle because, for once, he called the plays!
All inclusive takes the pressure off of you, as a parent. You don't need to stop the fun to try to plan where and when you are going to eat. You don't need to budget for meals with the fear of not having enough, you doing have to worry about tipping. Picky eaters will always find something that they love at the buffet style dining options. Your kids have the freedom to make their own choices and you will have the peace of mind knowing they are happy.
Five years later, by kids still talk about that vacation. They ask, "when are we going back to Montego Bay?" Every time, I tell them that we will go back there one day, but there are a lot of other beautiful places that we're going to go see.
What was your first all inclusive experience like?
